Conductor
Mathew Webster
Mathew Webster is entering his third year as conductor of the Centralia Philharmonic Orchestra. Currently, he is also the band director and music educator at Iuka Grade School where he teaches band, classroom music, choir and music technology. He also serves as the assistant band director for the Salem High School Marching Band and is the director for the Salem Community Band. As an instrumentalist and vocalist, he has performed with numerous bands, orchestras and choirs including the Independent Silver Band and the Kaskaskia College Band and Choirs. He also performed as a Civil War Cavalry Bugler for the motion picture "Letters Home" which is in production and is scheduled to be released in 2023.
Mr. Webster's education background includes an Associate in Arts - Music from Lake Land College, a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Eastern Illinois University and a Master of Science in Education with a major in instructional technology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Concertmaster
Philip Tinge
Philip Tinge is the Centralia Philharmonic's Concertmaster, a position he also holds with the Belleville Philharmonic. Through his organization, Tinge Studios, he works with both orchestras to provide private and group string lessons for all age groups throughout the region. He is also a string instructor at Southwestern Illinois College and performs with many groups including the Lewis & Clark String Quartet, Landolfi Strings and the Arch String Project. Mr. Tinge's education background includes bachelors and masters degrees in music performance on both violin and viola from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville as well as Suzuki teacher certification.
